After the Megxit Controversy, Does Prince Harry Regret Stepping Back from His Royal Role?

Like a rock that hit the water, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement early this year has left a ripple effect. As the couple vacates their positions as senior royal family members, those remaining may have to shoulder the Sussexes’ jobs.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision certainly came as a shock not just to the public but also to the powerful clan after reports surfaced that even they didn’t have an inkling on the controversial couple’s plans. It also strengthened rift speculations among the members of the family.

The Duke said the decision was made to protect his family

Needless to say, it rocked the otherwise ironed image of the royal clan. Despite the heavy backlash they received and the public uproar they have awakened, the Duke of Sussex reportedly doesn’t have any regrets on the step they have taken.

Prince Harry allegedly said that he stands by his actions because his priority is to protect Meghan and their child, Archie Harrison. He also didn’t want his family to go through what he had experienced in the past, a source claimed.

At a private event in South Beach, Miami, where the royal couple was a guest, the 35-year-old Sentebale founder opened up about the impact of his mother’s death in 1997 to him.

Apparently, Prince Harry has been undergoing therapy in the past couple of years to help cope with the trauma of Princess Diana’s demise.

Princes William and Harry were still young when Princess Diana died

The Princess of Wales died in Paris, France, when her car crashed as it was being chased down by multiple paparazzi.

At the time, Princes William and Harry were just 15 and 12, respectively, and both of them have spoken about how hard it was for them to lose their mother at such a young age.

In the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry admitted that everything about his role in the family brings back the painful moment when his mother, fondly called people’s princess, died.

Acknowledging the loss, however, was not something he did in the past two decades, he explained.

Because he refused to talk about his past, it came to the worst, a point which he said was a total chaos. Thanks to his brother, Prince William, he sought professional help, which had greatly helped him in what he does.

Days after they made the announcement in January, the Duke explained that although it was with a heavy heart that they are stepping back from their senior roles, there was no other way to deal with the challenges they have been facing for years.

He also hinted that this step will bring a peaceful life for his family. Even so, Prince Harry is determined to support his royal family.
